Pickleball Court Project - 563190

LIVING MEMORIAL PARK PICKLEBALL PROJECT

To Pickleball players, fans, and supporters,
Perhaps you’ve heard—pickleball is the fastest-growing sport in America, and right here in Brattleboro as well! It is wicked fun, very social, and provides great exercise. While it started out and has gained hold as a game for seniors, more and more young adults, youth, and children are turning to pickleball as their go-to sport. School groups are welcome and encouraged.

Pickleball is easy to learn, and players quickly progress to a level where they can keep the ball in play and enjoy longer and longer rallies. It’s less intense than tennis, and for many it’s the perfect mix of athletics, exercise, sociability and fun! It’s a great boon to mental and physical health, and even a life changing event for some. And other than a small fee for the senior program, it’s free!

The problem is that the Town has only four outdoor pickleball courts, which are laid out on and shared with the two outdoor tennis courts at Living Memorial Park. With all the new players, the courts have become and will be more and more crowded.

The Recreation & Parks Department has a solution. The plan is to install six permanent pickleball courts, moving tennis to the High School courts. The project will include replacing all fencing, replacing the existing asphalt, installing 6 new regulation pickleball courts, and adding benches, at an estimated cost of $150,000.

We welcome your support of this community project, so please send your tax-deductible contribution today. You may also pledge your donation, payable over a two-year period.

For a donation of $10,000 or more, you can be a court sponsor, with your name of a separate plaque on the fencing behind one of the courts. Donations of $2,500 or more will make you a bench sponsor and get your name on a plaque on one of the courtside benches. All donors of $500 or more will have their names on a plaque mounted on the fencing.

Donations of any size are appreciated and will be effectively doubled by matching grants from the Vermont Community Foundation Withington Fund (up to $30,000).
